Whether I am going to like your website or not, is determined within the first few seconds I enter. I am drawn to any website by first impression. If I am presented with a layout that is both breath-taking and organized, I am pretty much hooked. Only then will I continue and browse the rest of your site. It doesn’t take too much to impress me: a clean website with a well designed layout (preferably made by the site owner), a color scheme that is easy on the eye, and straight-forward navigation. After all, what is the point of venturing further if I can’t even stand the appearance of your website?
I aim to review from a subjective standpoint. There is no point in bringing too much of my personal opinions and views into a review when different people obviously share different ideas. The last thing I want to do is impose my web designing ideology on the reviewee. Each and every comment and/or suggestion I make in a review are followed by reasonable and valid justifications.
I enjoy reviewing not because I get to criticize other people’s websites. I enjoy it because 1) I can help others further develop and improve their sites. As a web designer, I understand that we are our own worst critics. There are many things that we don’t see, but others will immediately. Perfecting and improving our flaws is what web designing is all about. 2) I learn so much more from other people than I do from myself. Reviewing not only broadens my knowledge in web designing, but also my general knowledge of everyday life. I believe that the amount of information exchanged between a reviewer and a reviewee is equal and just as valuable.
